The literature doesn't offer distinctions between these since they aren't true hybrids, but are selections from within the species and subsequently cloned.

The true history of these is really murky. Most of the recent literature considers 'Otto Froebel' and 'Sunshine' to be the same. (In experience the Froebel name is more common in the U.S. and Sunshine is more widely used in Europe.) Don Hollingsworth provides more information in an article in APS Bulletin #286 (June 1993) beginning on page 30. (This adds Saunders' P. lobata of Perry' into the mix as being another name for Otto Froebel!)

It's still a great little peony and should be of interest to hybridizers.
